Anderson Center for Autism has been an integral part of the Hudson Valley community for nearly a century.
Founded in 1924, the Staatsburg-based organization strives to improve the quality of life for people with autism. Anderson Center for Autism offers day, residential and after-school educational programs for children. Anderson also offers residential and day programs for adults with autism, providing opportunities for those adults to work and engage with the community.
April is Autism Awareness Month, and we visited Anderson Center for Autism to learn about what’s new at the organization for 2017.
“We are now working with a new CEO/Executive Director Patrick Paul,” said Eliza Bozenski, director of Anderson Foundation for Autism. “He is leading us really efficiently and effectively toward our goal and our mission of optimizing the quality of life for people with autism.”
Anderson Center for Autism also recently launched a new registered behavorial technician (RBT) position. RBTs are support professionals with additional training and certifications to address challenging behavior and encourage appropriate behavior, Bozenski said.
In addition, Anderson Center for Autism continues its community focus in 2017. The center offers autism-supportive environment training to help businesses in their effort to become more welcoming of people with autism and their families, Bozenski said.
