What’s new on the business scene for Dec. 16

Community foundation announce grant awards — Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley recently announced more than $100,000 in grant awards to 22 Dutchess County nonprofits.

The grant awards included the foundation’s community response grants, and grants from the Northern Dutchess Fund and the Senator Stephen M. Saland Legacy Fund, to support equipment updates, programs and professional development for staff and board members.

Additional support was provided to the Community Response Grants program from the Wallbridge Fund and the Lola J. Sherman Trust of New York Community Trust. The Jeannette F. Schlobach Fund of the Community Foundation of Dutchess County awarded five grants to Dutchess-based organizations that provide programs and services to economically disadvantaged individuals, families and their pets, toward opportunities for economic opportunity, self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

“We are proud to support the excellent work of these Dutchess County nonprofit organizations and their tremendous dedication to improving the quality of life and addressing the challenges people in our community face daily,” said March S. Gallagher, Esq., president and chief executive officer of the foundation.

Speakers included: Christine Wolcott, researcher and database manager of the Anderson Center for Autism, Michele Pollock Rich, executive director of Grace Smith House, and Christina Boryk, executive director of Rebuilding Together Dutchess County.

Dutchess County grant recipients include: Anderson Center for Autism, Bardavon 1869 Opera House, Inc., Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, The Chamber Foundation, Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Inc., Community Family Development, Inc., Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, Dutchess County SPCA, Dutchess Outreach, Inc., Family Services, Grace Smith House Inc.,Half Moon Theatre, Hudson River Housing, Inc., Legal Services of the Hudson Valley,Meals on Wheels of Greater Hyde Park, Inc., Mid-Hudson Association for Persons with Disabilities, North East Community Center, Nubian Directions II, Inc., Poughkeepsie Farm Project, RDC Loaves and Fishes Inc., Rebuilding Together Dutchess County, and Stanford Free Library.

Serving Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley works with donors to provide grants and scholarships, establish endowment funds for nonprofits and other charitable causes, and collaborate with government, private foundations and local leaders to address current and emerging needs.
